Seasonal Blooms

One of the most environmentally and eco-conscious choices for your florals is seasonal flowers. If you picture yourself having peonies at your wedding, you must plan your wedding between April and June. Be mindful of the time of year if you are specific about the blooms you’d like at your wedding.

One of my favourite florists, Harriet from Cumberland Flower Farm, prides herself on sustainability and doesn’t import flowers for environmental and ethical reasons. British-grown flowers generate almost a tenth less carbon emissions than imported blooms, even better if you choose a local wedding florist.

Dramatic Floral Arch

Do you really love flowers, like really really love flowers? A floral arch would be for you.

Sophie and Ant got married at Forest Side, and they opted for the most stunning florals, including this amazing floral arch. They chose Brackens of Bowness as their wedding florist. They are experts in floristry and create the most exquisite florals… they are well known in the Lake District for a reason!

A floral arch looks stunning as a backdrop for your ceremony, you can then have photos taken by it afterwards. Move your floral arch behind your top table for even more floral goodness in your photos.

Whether you’re exchanging vows outdoors, want an awesome entrance to your venue or simply want an epic backdrop for photos – you can’t go wrong with a floral arch (or two) at your venue.

Colour Coordinating Floral Arrangements

If the design and aesthetics of your wedding are important, choosing coordinating floral arrangements throughout your venue will ensure a stunning look.

Think about every floral detail from your buttonholes to table centrepieces to the flowers around your cake – tie your wedding theme together by using floral arrangements in the same colour scheme.

Floral Headpieces

Floral accessories are not just for the flower girls or dogs.

If you want your bridesmaids to have matching floral crowns for a chic-boho vibe, go for it. Or you can be like my cool bride, Cat, and have fabulous roses intertwined in an intricate hairstyle – I was totally obsessed.

Statement Ceremony Aisle Flowers

If you want a bucket-load of flowers at your ceremony to make even those guests with hay fever need a tissue – sorry, not sorry – then absolutely include as many flowers as possible… what’s stopping you!

The best part is that these floral arrangements can be repurposed to decorate your reception space, so there is no waste.

My couple, Lauren and Carl, opted for stunning, colourful flowers in milk churns. These were repurposed throughout the day and made the space outside their wedding ceremony at St Lawrence Church, Appleby, how beautiful!

Centrepieces and Reception Decoration

One of my lovely couples, Heather & Shaw, wanted their reception venue to have nature vibes… and the florals delivered! The tables were decorated with stunning earthy orange florals along with deep, green ferns and foilage. They even wrapped leaves, flowers and ferns from the beams above which looked amazing.

Heather & Shaw’s lush flowers were created by their wedding venue, Skitby.
